Neoplasms

The Neoplasm collection, which primarily consists of brooches, was developed within a playground of experimentation of different materials. In particular, I explored the nature of polystyrene, a plastic that can be distorted by heat treatment. Pushing its’ functional and physical limits, the material was shaped organically into units, which were assembled afterwards into bigger complex formations. To create vivid contrasts, different colours and surface finishes were applied. Some pieces were electroformed. The project also focused on comparing scale in proportion to the human body.
