Best Before #2

Originating from the conceptual body of work “Best Before”, this project relates to the same issue of depletion, but it was made on a permanent basis. The bold, industrially styled pieces appeal to the androgyny and gender ambiguity of contemporary society. A story of unbridled consumption and the resultant reality is told through cold, oxidised silver and matt gold shaped into severe pieces with hard edges. Diamonds adorn a repurposed plastic bottle part, giving value to consumables and commenting on society’s attitude of disregard and ideas surrounding value and quality. Cable ties are repurposed, chains are formed of heavy duty corrupted links and construction components are transformed into wearable jewellery. The collection includes pendants, bangles, rings and ear hoops that are available in different sizes.
