The Aquatopia Water Fountain

Aquatopia critically explores freshwater issues, addressing demand and pollution. In 2019, I led workshops for residents and created an art project using the electroforming technique. An old industrial structure was repurposed into a water fountain, incorporating organic materials coated with copper. The baroque play with metamorphosis and mortality in Aquatopia celebrates the modern alchemy of copper and limescale while reminding us of the pollution of our most precious resource – water. Featuring a 50-litre bell jar as its centre piece, the fountain contains a blend of electroformed and resin-coated elements, showcasing the transformative nature of water and its inherent volatility.
